Video: Creating Dementia Friendly Faith Communities

Should faith communities pay attention to the ways they minister people living with dementia and their care partners? (This includes persons living at home as well as those in residential care settings.) This 40 minute recorded webinar will employ the 10 key areas of dementia-friendly communities, as proposed by the Alzheimer’s Society in the UK, to suggest how faith communities can assess their worship, programs, and physical space to ensure persons with dementia are involved in all aspects of their life together. The webinar will also describe barriers faith communities can encounter when they try to become more dementia friendly. Participants will receive a list of books and websites about the many ways faith communities can serve and be served by people who live with dementia. Connecting Voices Chorus – Absolutely fantastic opportunity

This unique and joy-filled choral experience is for people living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. During weekly rehearsals, we join in singing old and new songs, learning vocal technique and ensemble skills, sharing musical memories and building community, supporting each other in life’s journey. Our culminating concert allows us to display our musical accomplishments and demonstrate how we defy dementia together through music. No vocal experience is required, just a love of singing!
